Dedicated to building a dynamic downtown Cleveland.

Launched in 2009, the DCA City Advocate Program brings together a diverse group of young professionals who are eager to play a role in the revitalization and progress of downtown Cleveland. While volunteering their time and hard work on projects and initiatives related to DCA’s mission, participants emerge as new community leaders and potential candidates to serve on the DCA Board of Directors.

The City Advocate program is action-oriented, requiring participants to become involved in self-directed initiatives that support Downtown in some way, be it through marketing, business attraction and retention, advocacy or other means. Many City Advocates choose to work on longer-term collaborative projects, while others focus on actions that can be completed in one day. Click here to see a partial list of actions undertaken by the 2009-2010 City Advocates.

City Advocates convene monthly to report on their initiatives, generate collaborations, and to receive advice and counsel from Alliance staff.  The City Advocates also communicate about their endeavors by posting periodically to the DCA blog.

The program is designed as an annual commitment, with new members welcomed to the group each March. Active participants are eligible to run for nomination to the DCA Board of Directors after serving at least one term as a City Advocate. The Board hopes to elect at least one qualified City Advocate every year at the March annual meeting to serve a one-year, renewable term.
