Civic engagement, in part, is borne out of knowledge and
understanding of the city itself. Cleveland has a rich and
fascinating story to tell, chock-full of many diverse chapters. The
more its citizens are aware of that tale, the stronger champions
they will be for Cleveland.
CityProwl has created easily accessible audio walking tours of the
city that recount some of those great Cleveland stories. The tours
are conducted by a host, but feature the voices of Clevelanders who
will share their knowledge of the city, either through fact-based
history or personal anecdote. The rich diversity of the city is
reflected in the voices: young, old, native or import, famous or
obscure, all races, religions and ethnicities. The only common
denominator is that they all have a story that will capture the
imagination of the listener.
Each tour lasts 30 to 45 minutes in its entirety- short enough to
be completed during a lunch hour. The free tours can be found at www.cityprowl.com and at iTunes, where they van
be downloaded to an Ipod or .mp3 player and taken at the listener's
leisure.
