Rina Spyrou is a lifelong Clevelander who found herself living
and working within the heart of the city! Rina owns Mixed
Greens Eateries, currently in Tower City and the Galleria.
Since opening in 2008, Mixed Greens has been her way to inspire
Cleveland and its workforce every day at lunch. She is
involved in having a greener Cleveland as a vocal advocate for
recycling and composting in the restaurant business. Rina was
the head volunteer for the UNICEF Tap Project in 2010, which
brought restaurants together to raise money for the global clean
water crisis.
Rina graduated from Miami University of Ohio in 2002. She
was one of the first to receive a degree from Miami's intense
entrepreneurship program. Learning from the nation's best
business minds, Rina continues to implement the creativity she
gained from those great halls in her part of Cleveland! She
also simultaneously received a BA in psychology from Miami and
studied abroad in Florence, Italy for her junior year.
While there is no place like home, Rina is a vagabond traveler
in her heart. Encouraged from a young age to see the world,
she returns to Italy and Greece to visit her family on a regular
basis. Every year Rina plans to see a few new
countries. Iceland, Egypt, Jordan and Israel made the list in
2010. When she is at home the lively restaurant scene is
where she spends her free time. Enjoying the company of
friends and family over a delicious glass of wine always makes her
happy. She is very excited about the DCA program and hopes
that her enthusiasm for making Cleveland a wonderful place to live
will encourage others to take small steps forward.
