Downtown Cleveland Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to building a more dynamic Downtown Cleveland through its Clean & Safe Ambassador program, Business Development Center, and the creation of unique Downtown experiences.

Neighborhood Safety Specialists will patrol downtown on foot, bike and/or vehicle as a deterrent to and being on the lookout for unwanted behavior and activity, while providing information, assistance and directions to downtown workers, residents and visitors.
Neighborhood Safety Specialists are responsible for providing a visible uniformed presence within an assigned neighborhood. They serve in partnership with local law enforcement officers and proactively work with business owners, operators, outreach team members and other municipal and social service providers to promote and maintain a safe and welcoming neighborhood environment.

Our Programs + Activations team focuses on production and onsite management of consistent and culturally relevant programming throughout downtown public spaces, including but not limited to Public Square and Voinovich Park. In 2024, the team managed 340 programs and brought fun unique experiences that instilled community pride showcasing an animated downtown. The Seasonal Programs Assistant will support the P+A team during our peak season in 2025.
Responsibilities:
Serve as on-site assistant for the DCI P+A team, sometimes with little to no supervision.
Oversee events in the absence of the manager or director.
Assist with loading, unloading, setup, cleaning, and breakdown of program equipment, including pop-up tents, tables, chairs, signage, and other materials.
Greet event vendors and talent, providing support such as directional assistance, equipment monitoring, and food truck load-in coordination.
Engage with the public and event guests, delivering exemplary customer service on behalf of DCI.
Move program supplies and equipment (up to 50 lbs.) between storage and event sites, utilizing carts/wagons when necessary.
Connect with downtown stakeholders by delivering promotional materials and gathering contact information.
Provide administrative reporting support as needed.
Perform other event-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Highly outgoing, friendly, and personable demeanor.
Strong customer service and communication skills required.
Experience in consumer-facing roles, events, food & beverage, or community engagement preferred.
Comfortable working in public settings.
Proactive, motivated, and detail oriented.
Strong team player with emotional intelligence and quick problem-solving abilities.
Ability to resolve conflicts and escalate issues when necessary.
Requirements:
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds with assistance.
Ability to bend, squat, and kneel as needed.
Willingness to walk long distances between storage locations, program sites, and public spaces, and stand for extended periods.
Passion for public spaces and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Strong situational awareness, problem-solving skills, and ability to multi-task.
Open to learning and exercising sound judgment.
Job Type: Temporary
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
Schedule:
Monday to Friday
Weekends as needed
